Grand Seiko Mechanical Seasons: Summer

This timepiece is from the Japanese Seasons collection – designs inspired by the twenty four ‘Sekki’ or seasons in Japan; since ancient times these changes in the weather and nature have been incorporated into Japanese daily life. The dial of this watch is inspired by early Summertime in Japan just after the rainy season when the refreshing southern wind breezily ripples on the sea and the lakes to mark the start of high summer.

‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality where each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. The watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is clearly demonstrated – from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.
